Ahead of the most hotly anticipated tech launch of the year, eBay UK is giving shoppers the chance to get their hands on a refurbished phone for under £1 – with 150 phones including previous generation iPhone 14 handsets up for grabs for just 99p.
Live from 10am on Friday 22nd September and including coveted phones from Apple, Samsung and Google, including the iPhone 14 Pro Max, Galaxy and Google Pixel models. The edit is available until all 150 refurbished phones are sold out.
With the cost of the latest handsets unobtainable for many, especially amid the rising cost of living, eBay is highlighting the cost savings that choosing refurbished over new can bring. With up to 50% off refurbished tech at any given time via its Refurbished Hub, the marketplace aims to save shoppers hundreds of pounds while still providing the gratification of that new phone feeling.
Although software updates and slight improvements on features including cameras made to the newest handsets, excite tech enthusiasts, for the average phone user – these updates will have little impact on day to day usage. All of the phones included in the deal have been expertly restored to 100% functionality by manufacturer-approved and eBay vetted and trusted seller idoodirect for quality assurance. They also come with a one year warranty, giving true peace of mind for shoppers.
The offer also aims to highlight the amount of quality refurbished phones on the market amid a growing e-waste problem, with an estimated 5.3 billion mobile phones being thrown away last year.*
With so much hype around new phone launches at the moment we really want to show people that you can still get that ‘new phone upgrade feeling’ without breaking the bank by shopping refurbished. Not only do you save your hard earned cash but you can also help to extend the life of a phone which could otherwise end up in landfill – and you might even have a spare charger in the drawer – not something you can bank on with recently announced changes to certain handsets!
– Mark Monte-Colombo, Head of Refurbished Technology, eBay UK
Those who don’t manage to get their hands on one of the 150 99p phones, can still make the most of a 20% discount across selected Android and Apple phones, including some of the most sought-after iPhone, Samsung and Google Pixel handsets, running from 10am on 22nd September until midnight on 28th September, available here.
The 150 phones for 99p edit will go live via this link at 10am on Friday 22nd September.

Yeah, tried. All instantly out of stock. Probably all bough by eBay staff.
Nope, all went to single bidders. We had it set up, so only one phone to one address
So. Pretty sure this is a huge con. Every phone went out of stock in seconds but if you search the seller’s sold items there’s nothing there for mobiles sold for 99p today.
Looks like they were listed then immediately changed to zero quantity and no sales history on any of the listings that I can see.

You might want to scroll a little bit further down their sold listings for the 22nd September… The phones sold for 99p are all there 🙂
Hmm.
Looks like my comment was removed.
Can anyone explain why the seller’s sold items don’t show any sales for mobiles today? There should be 150 99p sales.
Quick search of iphone or Samsung Galaxy phones and looking for sold listings, can’t see any phones sold for 99p. Lowest price for iphone sold recently is £147. Samsung Galaxy, lowest price £53.
Seems to either be false advertising or sales history data on ebay not accurate.
Funnily enough, I tweeted a ‘journalist’ from the Daily Mirror who also did an article with this same press release that something seemed off about it.
She immediately blocked me.
Phones are there

Although your sales maybe terrible it isnt that hard to give stuff away for basically free one eBay !
@JoeB I have found them now, if you search for iphones and sold listings. Set the price for below £2 and they will show up
Hi Joe
I can assure you, they all sold as normal
