Amazon Top Up – In Store UK Launch with £5 bonus for all customers

If you’d like a free £5 credit to use on any Amazon purchase, all you need do is make use of the new Amazon Top Up – In Store service launched in the UK.

The service is designed to bring Amazon within reach of those without a bank account and those still reluctant to put their credit or debit card details online.

Surprisingly as recently as 2016 was reported to be over 1.5 million in the UK. That number may be even higher if you consider those on benefits with just a Post Office Card Account. Amazon Top Up – In Store provides a means to add a gift card balance to your account and is similar to the Amazon Cash service which launched on Amazon.com in April this year.

Whilst it’s sad that so many in the UK are still unbanked, there are also a small proportion of people who eye the Internet with suspicion and refuse to enter their bank details into any website. Amazon Top Up – In Store provides these people with a solution they may be more comfortable with.

Talking of expiry dates, Amazon say that the Top Ups won’t expire until 10 years after purchase so although you can’t withdraw funds from your account once added, there’s a generous window for you to spend them in.

Amazon Top Ups are available at any PayPoint store of which there are 29,000 across the UK. You simply display a barcode on the Amazon mobile app to the retailer (or print a unique barcode out from Amazon.co.uk) and hand over your cash and almost instantly the balance will appear on your Amazon account ready to spend.
