It looks like eBay coupons have made a come back, if my and some other correspondent’s inbox is anything to go by for. It looks like eBay has embarked on a campaign to bring shoppers to ebay by offering personalised discount coupons. (Or in my case it could be that I haven’t bought something on eBay for quite a few months and they want me to return.)
Have you got any coupons over the past few days? The coupon I received is good for a tenner off, if I spend £30. That’s not too shabby an offer.
It’s fairly canny timing. As we come to the end of the traditionally slightly sluggish third quarter, there’s no harm in giving eBay sales a little boost by spending some of the marketing budget on coupons to entice shoppers into sell. And the offer I’ve seen, of £10 off a £30 shop is pretty good.
And likewise, with it ending just at the start of October, the beginning of the fourth quarter, it’s a very good time to bring eBay ti the front of mind with shoppers.
Needless to say there are some Ts&Cs. You must pay by PayPal and the discount cannot be applied to postage costs either. But from a seller point of view it’s good to see eBay investing in what is historically a very successful marketing tactic. Let’s hope that this is part of a big and bold coupon push that will really give ebay a boost this Christmas season.

My eBay user’s posting ID for eBay Radio receives a constant stream of eBay coupons and special offers. Whatever prompts them to be sent clearly wants to entice me to buy something and is probably baffled by the fact that this eBay user has not yet actually shopped on the site!
