Often it’s the really simple tools which make a massive difference to an online seller’s business. Today we’ve discovered an iPhone app which can do something as simple as measure the size of a parcel and if you’re an Apple user it could be perfect for you.
Spotted by the guys at ParcelMonkey, AirMeasure is an augmented reality app that’s actually useful in every day life. AirMeasure turns your iPhone into a tape measure that can help users measure anything from small distances to far away points and heights. Fantastic if you want to know how tall a tree is or for children to measure each other’s height for fun.
Using AirMeasure as a shipping tool
What ParcelMonkey spotted was the app’s ‘3D cube feature’ which enables you to capture all the dimensions of a box including the length, width and height. Naturally being a courier site, you’ll need these details to book through ParcelMonkey or most other couriers.
Unless you only use a standard sized box, in which case you probably already know exactly how big it is, AirMeasure gives iPhone users a really quick way to ensure they don’t underpay (or overpay!) on courier rates.
There’s nothing more frustrating that shipping on time just for a courier to either hold or return your parcel until you pay the extra or worse still tack on a fine for any underpayments. AirMeasure can help you ensure that this will never happen. Even better, if the app tells you that your parcel is smaller than you thought you may be able to save money with a lower delivery charge.
