DHL Express and Hubbed strike Australian deal

Collecting and dropping off parcels in Australia has just got easier. DHL Express and newsagent chain down under Hubbed has struck a deal that will see parcels delivered to 680 convenience stores nationwide

The new service, which has just launched, allows customers additional pick-up options to collect their parcels from Hubbed’s branches.

Gary Edstein of DHL says: “Newsagents are generally located in main shopping areas and have long trading hours including weekends, making them particularly customer-friendly.”

“As more Australians turn to online shopping to buy the goods they want and need, we are expanding our delivery options.”

“Correspondingly, by reducing the number of attempts our couriers need to make before a package is delivered, we can deliver a higher quality service to our customer base.”

Currently, the service is available mostly in city locations and also a few regional centres. Possible future expansion is also under consideration.

There’s no doubt about the convenience of shop pick up for ecommerce parcels and there is already significant choice in the market here in the UK. And the DHL Express and Hubbed deal takes that choice to Australian consumers now too. But obviously, in a country as vast as Australia, 680 outlets isn’t going to provide anything close to dense coverage.

Let us know whether you’re in Australia and have any experience receiving parcels using the new service.
