Extend your Christmas campaign through to Epiphany

No primary category set

You may be thinking of winding down your business by the end of the week for a well deserved break, even if you want to stay open you’ll be forced to have a couple of more relaxed days when couriers won’t be collecting as the nation celebrates Christmas (or in some cases some other politically correct term probably including the word ‘Holidays’).

However it’s worth remembering that different countries around the world have different traditions. If you’re in Spain then you won’t be getting your Christmas presents until Epiphany with the ‘Fiesta de Los tres Reyes Mages’ – the festival of the three kings. This is the close of the Spanish Christmas celebrations and is when the three wise men visited the baby Jesus bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Here in the UK many children have been busily writing to Father Christmas but in Spain it’s traditional for them to write letters to the Three Kings on Boxing Day.

If you sell to Spain (or other Spanish territories, for instance Mexico also celebrate the Fiesta de Los tres Reyes Mages, hold on a little longer before turning off your Christmas campaigns. In fact keywords you may have been bidding on such as ‘gift’ will plummet in cost once Christmas is over in the UK, but Spanish buyers will still be looking for Epiphany gifts into the New Year.

“A lot of people don’t consider that in Spain the main gift giving day is actually on the 6th of January, so whilst your competitors have given up on that gift word for another 12 months, you can still be using it at a cheaper rate to have your items showing up for spanish buyers.”
