eBay voted a Superbrand by consumers in 2018

No primary category set

eBay tell us that they are thrilled to announce that they have been awarded Consumer Superbrands status for 2018. It’s worth noting that eBay are the only marketplace to be awarded the title.

“With customers at the heart of everything we do, to be named a Superbrand by the British public is an achievement I am enormously proud of. Whether it is to shop, sell or give – eBay serves more than 20 million people in the UK every month. Superbrand status is a tremendous acknowledgement of our unrelenting focus on providing the very best experience for shoppers, businesses, brands and retailers.”
– Rob Hattrell, vice President of eBay UK

Voted for by 2,500 members of the British public and ratified by a voluntary council of senior independent industry experts, being named a Superbrand today is more important than ever as economic headwinds and competition grow fiercer. Indeed, following a tumultous year, winning the accolade that brands have fought for since 1995 is a clear demonstration of eBay’s efforts to remain relevant, distinctive and attractive in consumers’ eyes.

The process, managed by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) in partnership with Research Now SSI, saw just over 1,500 brands from across 78 categories judged against the three core criteria of a Superbrand: quality, reliability and distinction.

Qualities of a Superbrand

  • Quality

Does the brand provide quality products and services?

  • Reliability

Can the brand be trusted to deliver consistently?

  • Distinction

Is it well known in its sector and suitably different from its rivals?

“In a year of signficant change, it’s perhaps not surprising that we saw many shifts within the Superbrands rankings. In these turbulent market conditions, it is clear that brands are having to up their efforts to retain their Superbrand status. Everyone that has made it into the 2018 listing therefore should be exceptionally proud.”
– Stephen Cheliotis, CEO of The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) and Chairman of Superbrands

“Does the brand provide quality products and services?”
Products ?, what product does ebay sell?
Are we talking crappy branded packaging paid for by sellers fees but are free?

It’s lucky they didn’t ask a load of sellers, cos I think the award may have been a golden turd, no matter how much they polish it, it’s still (you know the word).

Super Brand, My arse ! B-)

  2. they will be winning the local dog show next, or possibly the best kept village,, and if they really try who knows it might be a britain in bloom award
