Visit the Manchester Amazon Fulfilment Centre

Starting in April, you can visit the Manchester Amazon Fulfilment Centre. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when someone hits the buy button or want to see how your goods are stored in FBA, this is fascinating opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and understand how the behemoth Amazon operates.

You can find out about scheduling a tour of an Amazon Fulfilment Centre here and it’s not just in Manchester that you can take advantage, that’s just the latest location and tours will commence in April, but you can also have a nosey at the Dunfermline, Rugeley and Hemel Hempstead facilities. The Manchester fulfilment centre does offer a specific attraction though: it’s fully equipped with Amazon’s advanced robotic technology.

We’re extremely proud of the efforts of everyone who works in our fulfilment centres and opening Manchester up to these tours is the perfect way to recognise all of their achievements.

We’re especially thrilled to share some of the exciting things we do here in Manchester to deliver a high quality of service to our customers and look forward to welcoming people through our doors in the coming months – not least the mesmerizing robotics which move and lift products through the fulfilment centre.
– Neil Travis who works at the Manchester Amazon Fulfilment Centre

Already 80 local primary and secondary school pupils have visited the Manchester depot in Wythenshawe that is the size of 3.5 football pitches and holds millions of products and employs 1200 staff.

Whilst obviously Amazon is opening its doors to show off the technology and entertain as well as inform, there is nothing wrong with a charm offensive. But from a merchant point of view, such a tour could have real value and offer genuine insights and it does make sense to understand as much as you possibly can about the Amazon network. As an Amazon merchant, you have put your business into their hands so garnering as much information about the operation could offer you business intelligence.

  1. I’d love this, could give some real ideas for our warehouse team, however all the local tours are full… will have to keep looking for more dates…

I just hope the “Moaner” crowd don’t stop it happening by attending and kicking up a fuss every 30 seconds about why X Y or Z happened to their account…
