Devin Wenig to join General Motors Board of Directors

General Motors have announced the election of eBay President and CEO Devin Wenig to its Board of Directors. The election of Devin to the board’s slate of nominees will bring General Motors’s Board of Directors to 11 members, 10 of whom are non-employee directors.

You might wonder why someone as busy as Devin would take on additional directorships, but it actually makes sense. Think of it as work related professional development, giving exposure to a new industry with different but similar challenges. I woudn’t go so far as to describe it as a hobby, but it’s definitely an opportunity to pursue your professional passions as well as expanding your network and getting exposure to technology in a different environment.

Devin will stand for election at GM’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders on the 12th of June 2018. There’s very little doubt that he will be elected as these things are more a formality with the decision already made.

In addition to the eBay Board and now the General Motors board, Devin is a Co-Chair of the Governors of the Consumer Industries for the World Economic Forum, a member of the Business Council, and a trustee of the Paley Media Center.
