With Amazon Prime Day about to hit consumers early in July, eBayhave just thrown down the gauntlet and announced they will soon introduce a Best Price Guarantee in the US offering 110% of the difference back if a customer finds a lower price on a competitor site. You think you’ll get a good deal on Amazon? Check eBay out for at least as good a price if not better is the message eBay are putting out there.
eBay haven’t announced when the new guarantee will come into effect. It will be very interesting to see if the launch coincides with Amazon Prime Day or whether it’ll launch soon after. If it is on Prime Day it will be amusing for bystanders to see which marketplace gets the greatest coverage and how many Amazon shoppers do check out eBay to see if they can get a better price. In either event, come Black Friday the battle ground is ready and eBay and Amazon will both be in play to promote the best deals (and incidentally, Amazon aim to offer great prices but they are certainly not always the lowest and are yet to give a 110% money back promise).
Best Price Guarantee replaces eBay’s current price match offering, giving shoppers the lowest price online for eligible Deals and Top Products.
“Summer is a busy, deal-driven time for shopping and Best Price Guarantee gives eBay customers the confidence to navigate the season knowing they are getting the best possible price. Customers can enjoy the best prices every day, with no blackouts on price-matching throughout the summer.”
– Scott Cutler, eBay’s Senior Vice President, Americas
Best Price Guarantee allows shoppers to be sure they’re getting the best deal on many of eBay’s most popular items. Users who find an item available for less on an approved competitor’s website can contact customer service within 48 hours of their original purchase on eBay.com and will be issued a coupon for 110% of the difference upon confirmation by the eBay team.

Comparing to the superior Amazon Prime is redundant, their prices can change on millions of items many times in an hour.
What’s a “top product”?
