Ever since the 5th of September 1882 when the first celebration was held in New York City, the first Monday in September has been marked as Labor Day in the US. This year it falls on the 3rd of September when just about every public service in the US, including the USPS national postal carrier, are shut for business and in recent years a Labor Day sale has come to be expected.
Labor Day is a national holiday celebrating the American worker, which is also celebrated in Canada, so for ecommerce it could be a bumper day for sales as consumers eventually get bored of their parades, parties and picnics to turn to a bit of retail therapy.
Not as big an event as Black Friday, it’s still an opportunity for retailers to run sales events and marketplaces are no exception.
eBay and Labor Day Sale
eBay are running a 20% off select tech, home and other products with the coupon code JUSTRELAX. There’s a maximum of $50 off orders of $25 or more.

Etsy and Labor Day Sale
Etsy are running a Labor Day sales with between 10% and 60% off with products discounted by sellers. Sellers had the opportunity to participate with advance notice given.
All products from sellers offering a discount on the Etsy Labor Day sale are included in a special landing page to make it easy for buyers to locate the deals.
The Etsy Labor Day event runs until Monday the 3rd of September.
Amazon and Labor Day Sale
Amazon have a ton of deals in their Labor Day sale, although they’ve yet to kick their marketing into full swing. Amazon Echo devices are $100 off until the 3rd of September along with movies, TV, books, music, and more.
