Etsy Quick View option for listings in search test

No primary category set

Etsy are running a test to make viewing listings in search results easier. They are adding a “Quick view” button on the listing image when a shopper hovers over a listing in search. When the shopper clicks the button, they’ll see a pop-up with the listing’s photos, title, price, review rating, and processing time.

The idea is to make it easier for shoppers to see information about items, view multiple photos, and see other items from the same shop in search results.

Whilst sellers haven’t welcomed another recent test on feedback in search results, this one should be met with universal approval. Making it easier for a buyer to get more detail quickly and easily in search results should assist sales and sellers are likely to especially welcome the ‘see other items from the same shop in search results’ part as it means items a buyer hasn’t searched for will get additional visibility.

What is clear from the search result tests for both Etsy Quick View and Etsy Feedback in search results is that Etsy are exploring ways to make listings more attractive for buyers and aiming to encourage them to buy more. The results of both of these test, which will be shown to a proportion of buyers, will give Etsy data on not only how the features convert to clicks through to the items, but also some insights into what buyers find attractive on the site and ultimately how displaying additional information up front impacts conversions.

If Etsy can increase conversions and help buyers find listings with higher conversion rates that’s good news for all sellers as, so long as they have great products with quality listings and reasonable costs, especially for postage, then they should see their sales on Etsy increase. A word of warning however, if your images aren’t great or if your postage charges are relatively high compared to ecommerce norms or your competitors then these tests could see your conversion rates and even clicks to your listings decrease.
