Hurricane Michael has made landfall in the United States and has caused significant damage already in Florida and Georgia. It’s not yet known how long it will persist or what the full impact will be. But there will doubtless be disruption and an affected group will be eBay merchants located in the area.
To that end, eBay has revealed protections to sellers in the area to reassure merchants that their seller performance metric won’t be negatively impacted if they cannot get consignments out. We wrote about the original information here but eBay has now provided more information.
If your business is affected, eBay says it will automatically protect your Seller Performance and your late shipment rate will not be impacted if your ZIP code has been identified by the major shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx) or the eBay tracking data shows that your shipment was delayed or not delivered due to this weather event.
Please note: you may see late shipments due to this weather event on your seller dashboard, but they will be removed before the seller evaluations occur on the 20th of each month. If you are unable to ship, we recommend communicating with your buyers to let them know the situation. For Stores subscribers, don’t forget to put your store in vacation mode to avoid receiving orders that cannot be shipped.
