Shippo has announced that it will be partnering with shipping firms AxleHire and CDL to further improve the offering they make to ecommerce merchants in the United States.
Part of the rationale of partnering with these new companies is to expedite speedier shipping. A recent survey by Shippo found that while 15% of consumers online expect same day and next-day delivery, just 1% of small and mid-sized online businesses offer it. Shipping costs and opaque processes are working against consumer expectations of “fast and free” shipping. They say that with these new carrier additions, Shippo will be able to support business with more fast, transparent, and reliable shipping options.
At Shippo, we’re always seeking new ways to give our customers more flexibility if they are looking to expand, change, and improve their shipping operations. The solutions offered through the Shippo platform can have a direct impact on cost-savings, customer experience, and speed. With the addition of AxleHire and CDL, we are excited to offer even more targeted services to businesses so they can meet the increasing demand for expedited last mile delivery.

AxleHire is described as a last-mile logistics startup that supports deliveries for companies such as HelloFresh, Freshly, and Tyson. Launched in 2015, the company began operating in San Francisco and Los Angeles and now serves businesses in Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
They say that CDL is a family-owned company established in 1955 that is headquartered in New York City. Apparently CDL operates out of seven distribution centres with central sorting hubs located in Brooklyn, New York and Carlstadt, New Jersey. The company started as a trucking and messenger service serving the Tri-State area and is now a leading regional carrier in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic.
