eBay UK Seller Release Spring 2019 – eBay Motors Fees

eBay are making changes to Listing, Final value and Optional Listing Upgrade eBay Motors Fees. The changes apply when you sell a motor on eBay from April 2019. The changes only apply to vehicles and don’t impact parts and accessories.

It’s been a number of years since eBay Motors Fees increased and in fairness the general value of cars have risen so, whilst fee increases are never welcome, the rises in this case aren’t punitive bearing in mind that the final value fee percentage is unchanged. eBay’s UK classified ads platform Gumtree has also taken control of Motors.co.uk, so with Gumtree (which has always been free) eBay are able to give visibility of Motors to a much wider audience. Professional Motors dealers can attract 3.7 million highly-engaged visitors every month and list across eBay and Gumtree for maximum exposure.

Listing fees and Optional Listing Upgrade fees will apply from 1 April 2019. However, as Final value fees are charged when an item sells, this change will take effect for vehicles which were listed, relisted or renewed from 1 April onwards.

The detail below compared to existing fees on the new pricing is for Business sellers only and excludes VAT. For more information on fees for Private sellers, please visit our Private seller fees page. Hint…. If you are selling a motor privately, you should list it on your private eBay account and not your business account. eBay fees for private sellers can be seen here.

One Response

  1. How do eBay calculate a final value fee on a classified ad? Surely, they do not know if or when a car sells unless told by the seller? What if it sells straight off the forecourt – do they still want their 0.9% fee?
