Tamebay Brunch Round Table Discussion at Madejski Hotel Reading

We are holding the first Tamebay Brunch Round Table Discussion on the 7th of March in Reading, Berkshire, in partnership with GFS. The discussion will focus on International expansion in the face of Brexit.

The venue is now confirmed as the Cilantro Restaurant at the Madejski Hotel Reading. We’ve had quite a bit of interest already, so are now asking you to confirm that you are able to make it at 10am on the 7th of March and are able to get to the Madejski Hotel. If you’ve already expressed interest please reconfirm that you’re available and can get to the hotel.

The Round Table Discussion

Having already partnered with GFS last year with a survey the results of which were presented in a webinar, there is an obvious appetite for expanding overseas but retailers are facing key constraints which have been amplified by the ongoing uncertainty over Brexit.

Whilst we still don’t know whether to expect a hard Brexit, a deal, or perhaps a delayed Brexit, preparing for a hard Brexit as part of a wider plan for international growth makes sense, not least of which because regardless of our future trading relationship with the EU, it will involve the same steps as trading anywhere in the world outside of the EU. Even if a deal with the EU is reached, it will include a transition period and merchants need to prepare for when this ends. With this in mind, the topic for the 1st Tamebay Brunch will be International expansion in the face of Brexit and a sharing of best practices between the attendees.

Attendees will most likely have a turnover in excess of a £1 million and already successfully trading overseas, not just to Europe but the rest of the world. The discussion will be held under the Chatham House rule, which means that while the subject of the discussions may be reported, comments made at the Brunch will kept anonymous. The aim is to openly discuss the issues and share your views in private although the topic and nature of the debate can contribute to a broader conversation.
