Top six product categories with most valuable eBay sales

No primary category set

The top six eBay best categories with the most valuable eBay sales recently have been revealed by mentalfloss. Here are the top six most categories that have seen the highest selling items on eBay:

  • Collectable cards: Worth up to $400,000
  • Comic books: Worth up to $3.2 million
  • Watches: Worth up to $535,500
  • Designer handbags: Worth up to $88,000
  • Luxury cars: Worth up to $500,000
  • LEGOs: Worth up to $10,000

The collectable cards category is the most valuable eBay sales offering on the marketplace withsome of the highest ticket items. Some 500 card sellers are turning over about $10,000 or more since September 2018. In February this year, a 1997 Michael Jordan basketball card sold for $350,100, and that same month, an autographed 2000 Tom Brady football card sold for $400,100.

Second-hand luxury products are attracting high selling prices on eBay. A single watch is sold every five seconds on the marketplace. Designer handbags such as Hermes Birkin took the lion’s share of profit for $88,000 in 2017. Limited edition luxury car, Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SuperVeloce found its owner for $499,900 in 2018.

These products are just a few examples of unwanted or second-hand items that could bring massive income for your consumers with unused or unwanted items without being aware of their value. Equally, those sellers who trade from car boots and auctions could unwitting stumble across hugely valuable hidden gems.

  1. “Designer handbags .. & a Lamborghini Aventador ……. just a few examples of unwanted or second-hand items … without being aware of their value”.
Seriously?! What a waste of space article.

    Tamebay goes ever further downhill.
Sorry, but you used to publish genuinely informative & useful pieces.

  2. Hello most here are in the UK ??
Basketball is not really understood collectible cards even less
Who Does Tom Brady play for???

  3. Most of us haven’t got a Lambo in the garage that we’ve forgotten about, but you’d be surprised at what seeming valueless items actually have value and what obviously valuable items some people don’t realise are valuable. Here are 2 examples:

You might think an old CRT TV would just be something you take to the tip, but current records on ebay show the right make and model can sell for over £400. Most are worth a lot less than that, but still worth checking rather than chucking.

And the other day on that TV show ‘Money For Nothing’, there was a guy taking 3 persian rugs to the tip, because he was downsizing. 1 was antique and he got over £600 for them, but can you imagine throwing away £600 of rugs? Had he not heard of antiques?

  4. What I would be interested in seeing is the percentage of UK sellers that fall into these exciting high value categories. It must be very low. Most of us just plod along with the boring stuff.
