Amazon and Morrisons have announced they are expanding the ‘Morrisons at Amazon’ store on Prime Now to many more cities across the UK.
‘Morrisons at Amazon’ is an ultra-fast same day, online grocery home delivery service, currently available to Amazon Prime Now customers in four cities: Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, parts of London and the home counties. Customers can order a full Morrisons shop online, which is then picked at a local Morrisons store, and delivered by Amazon. The option for delivery within one hour of the order being placed is available for many customers across these cities.
During 2019, this ultra-fast same day service will begin to be rolled out to other cities, including Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield and Portsmouth. In future years, ‘Morrisons at Amazon’ will be expanded to further cities across the UK.
The expansion will see Morrisons becoming a retailer on Amazon’s Prime Now website and app, through ‘Morrisons at Amazon’, and selling directly to customers. Morrisons will continue as a wholesaler for all Amazon’s other UK grocery offers for customers.

Said back at the beginning of this year Amazon will want a large chunk of this business, as general merchandise is in decline. Groceries is steady, people need to eat.
Right now it is the money spinning urban areas. Morrison have only just started here doing home delivery (rural) , but that is them all at it now Sainsbury, Asda, Tesco, Iceland, we even have a Indy trader around here doing this.
I took an extra job on to raise some extra cash (big day coming up) with one of them and have been (plus you see how it all works, it is a fair eye opener and a logistical marathon ) anyway been flying all over the country for the last 9 months in one of the delivery vans and it is getting busier every month and they cannot get drivers in quick enough (maybe up their wages would help)…more and more drops every week…to many really they cannot take on new zones due to lack of drivers.
I went out and did 27 all around the Trossachs the other day was shattered, it is huge now the vans are everywhere.
I was going to quit once I raised my extra cash, but I am actually going to stay on right now, I strangely like it, and I need to move my e-commerce business away from marketplaces so it is allowing me to do it.
The supermarkets are slower at the till in-store and the Online Dept. for Home Delivery is what is growing in these places, it is hard to explain but it is huge.
I expect Amazon will end up just buying a UK supermarket in the end and we will end up in another race to the bottom tax dodging away etc. in their normal way.
I know Walmart want shot of Asda depends if they do business with Amazon however.
