There are new tiered Amazon referral fees for Jewellery and Watches. This will significantly reduce the cost of selling Jewellery and Watches priced over €250/£225.
New Amazon Referral Fees for Jewellery & Watches
- Watches Amazon referral fees change from a flat 15% in UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, to 15% on the portion of the price up to €250/£225 and 5% above.
- JewelleryAmazon referral fees change from 25% in UK and 20% in Germany, France, Italy and Spain, to 20% on the portion of the price up to €250/£225 and 5% above.
This equates to a 50% reduction in Amazon referral fees for a €1,000 watch sold in Germany and a 61% reduction for a £700 Jewellery item sold in the UK.
Amazon say that this change is expected to benefit customers by enabling Selling Partners to list a wider range of competitively priced Jewellery and Watches.
This will naturally benefit those selling high end jewellery and watches the most but won’t any difference for low value items. The reduction in Amazon referral fees change for the portion of the sale price over £225 could attract more competition as merchants list items which previously they weren’t willing to give up 15%/20% margin on.

OOoh, now there’s the first good thing I can ever say about amazon.
Any reduction in fees is most welcome, although it’s never done from the goodness of their hearts. (I don’t think they have one)
Still, I shouldn’t be cynical!!

Refund administration fee
If you refund a customer for an order for which you have already received payment, Amazon will refund you the amount of the referral fee you paid for the item(s), minus the applicable Refund Administration Fee, which is the lesser of GBP 5.00 or 20% of the applicable referral fee.
That’s a great change!
Amazon previous pricing blocked 2 types of jewellery from sale.
1) Cheap inexpensive items. They had a minimum referral fee of 1.75 GBP or 2$ in US. Luckily this has now been reduced to a normal 30 p .
2) Expensive range jewellery. It was too much to pay for selling luxury items. 25% referral fee, you had to set the price up through the roof. There is a level of trust a buyer must have for your company to purchase such items. Why would you ever bother with amazon in the first place?
With that said, ebay still has only 11% FVF, not much higher than other categories. Smart consumers would shop for jewellery there.
