Amazon Renewed has launched in Australia. It is a program that offers customers the option of buying certified refurbished products with the assurance of a selling partner-backed six month warranty. Renewed products are currently available across Mobile Phones, Computers, Tablets and Audio products such as headphones and wireless speakers – with more categories coming soon, from brands including Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Lenovo, HP and Dell.
“With hundreds of products that have been inspected and tested by qualified suppliers to work and look like new now available, customers can access great savings when comparing products with new equivalents.”

Products will be clearly marked as “Renewed” in the Amazon Australia store and only products that show next to no signs of previous use will be offered. The refurbishment process typically includes a full diagnostic test, replacement of any defective parts, a thorough cleaning and inspection process, and repackaging by the seller or refurbisher. Renewed products also come with a six month selling partner-backed warranty.
This is an interesting move as Amazon is largely known as a site where only new products are offered for sale. Indeed, many a small merchant has fallen foul of trying to pass off customer returns as new and had their account suspended. Naturally, only selected merchants will be able to offer products as renewed so Amazon Renewed isn’t a service everyone can offer.
“Renewed provides Australian customers with great discounts on good as new products, paired with the reassurance of a six month warranty, and the convenience of having it delivered to their door. Aussie shoppers are savvy and we hope that Renewed gives them another way to get the products they want for an even better price.”

It is a good service provided by Amazon being refurbished goods and will help with the demise and slow death of Ebay.
