eBay UK Progress update on 15th October Item Specifics roll out

No primary category set

eBay UK have published a progress update regarding the category and Item Specific changes that went awry on the 15th of October as the new mandates came in. They have also said that Seller Hub is fixed and should now be displaying the sales data.

“We thank you for your continued patience as we work through the issues associated with the 15 October category and classification changes.

We would like to assure you that our technical teams are working around the clock to iron out these post-launch issues. Most of the issues have already been addressed, only a few remain open. We’ll update you with our progress soon.

Progress update

Seller Hub

All missing sales data (from 12 Oct. to the current date) in the Seller Hub Performance tab has been restored and validated.

Missing (hidden) values

We are now copying the additional item specifics you previously provided into the required item specifics fields. We’ll continue to copy these until this issue is completely resolved.

Left hand navigation filters

Most of the left-hand navigation filters are now working again and we expect this issue to be fully resolved shortly.

Irrelevant item specifics values

The cleaning of irrelevant values has begun and you’ll start seeing only appropriate values in the drop-down menus from next week onwards.

Once again, we would like to express our regret that these changes caused concern and additional work for sellers at an already very busy time of the year. We are sorry if this has affected you or your business in any way.

We expect to have all the changes functioning as planned very soon, and we’ll keep you up to date on progress as it happens.

Thank you for your continued patience and, as always, thank you for selling on eBay.”

Regards,
The eBay Team

  1. According to eBay’s own research, when buyers have a bad buying experience, they are less likely to shop on eBay in the future.

This latest debacle from eBay has made it impossible for buyers to filter using item specifics, causing an absolutely awful buying experience.

I wonder how many of the buyers that have had difficulty searching for items this last 3 weeks will bother returning to eBay in the future?

  2. If ebay copies item specifics to a different field, how is that updated in listing software such as Linnworks – or will it all fail when pushing live again? Which is the master copy of my data?

What are irrelevant values? Who decides? Where is the drop down? Is this an announcement for buyers or for sellers?

Can I please stop this nonsense and get on with delighting my buyers soon?

    So many questions.
