Tamebay Survey on Carrier Choice and Carrier Management

No primary category set

Start the Tamebay SurveyWe’d like to invite you to take part in a new Tamebay Survey which looks at which carriers you choose to use and how you manage multiple carrier relationships. You can start the survey here.

There are many carriers to choose from, both postal services and couriers, but at a simplistic level they all offer a very similar service – they collect your parcels and deliver them to your customers. However, each courier offers different service levels, handle different size and weight parcels, have varying costs, different levels of integration with marketplaces and multichannel management solutions, and can offer a different experience on the door step… or sometimes not on the door step if they offer collection points.

At the same time, if you use multiple carriers we’d like to learn more about what you expect from carrier management solutions and what’s important to you as an online retailer. We’d like to know what your current solutions can offer you as well as the features your ultimate carrier management solution would provide.

The survey will be used to direct editorial and inform us of future solutions that could be of interest to you and we’ll publish the results once the survey is complete.

  1. Over the years it was always all couriers are very alike in terms of service and price per volume combined with Royal Mail being best for large letter items and low value items under 2kg. Especially if you are selling price competitive products on the marketplaces.

It will be interesting to see if this has changed i.e. how much market share does RM have in this instance. Also, I suspect buyer expectations have changed, we would expect more from a delivery company but do we want to pay more for the privilege? Also, what about environmental issues which are forefront of the current affairs at present – do we want more delivery vans on the roads?!
