Robin Beard has celebrated his 30-year anniversary with Yodel. Following his career in the armed forces, he initially started as a sorter and loader driver at the Bristol Depot, before being promoted to Lead Team Manager in 2009.
Robin left school in May 1979, before joining and passing his training for The Royal Marines in 1980. During his time in the Marines, Robin served in 40 Commando and travelled the world to places including Norway, Cyprus, Belize and the Falklands Islands. In 1990 Robin left the Royal Marines and started his career in logistics. In his role as a team leader at Yodel, Robin plays a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Bristol depot, which handles millions of parcels every year. To celebrate his milestone, his depot manager, Tony Foster, presented Robin with £900 Very.co.uk vouchers.
“Leaving the Armed Forces is a big moment for any veteran, so I’m grateful to have been able to find a career that I’ve enjoyed for the last 30 years. Teamwork and camaraderie are important values in the Marines, and it’s great that I have been able to uphold these in the logistics industry – where they are equally as prominent. My colleagues at Yodel have been a key factor in staying here for such a long time; we all enjoy helping each other out.”
– Robin Beard, Bristol Lead Team Manager, Yodel
“I have been fortunate to have known and worked alongside Robin for the past 12 years. His experiences gleaned from his many years with the Royal Marines and working himself up the promotional ladder within the business have proved to be invaluable many times to me, his colleagues and the company. It’s been a real privilege to work with a professional such as Robin.”
