UPS and Michaels have teamed up to temporarily offer consumers a safe and secure option to pick up packages and drop off returns by leaving them in designated drop-off locations outside of select Michaels stores across the United States. The solution meets the need for socially-distant interactions, while ensuring small business owners, makers and creatives continue to have access to necessary materials.
“As a company designated a critical infrastructure business, we’re pleased to offer this solution to continue safely serving our communities,”
“Thanks to innovation like this, UPS is proud that its overall Access Point location network continues to operate with more than 90% of the locations open and supporting pickup and drop-off needs.”
– Kevin Warren, chief marketing officer, UPS
Consumers are provided with a safe and convenient option to ship their UPS packages directly to a Michaels store, as well as drop off pre-labeled shipments and make returns to any ecommerce retailer that accepts UPS returns shipments. Upon arrival consumers will give the store a call from their vehicles, provide some details over the phone, and show their ID’s to a Michaels Team Member who will safely and securely interact with the customer to facilitate a contactless process – start to finish. This contactless drop-off process shows how couriers can work in even more ways to help their customers abide by social distancing laws by promoting more services that avoid contact.
“Michaels is proud to maximize our UPS Access Point locations advantageously for our small business, makers and DIY communities,”
“With a growing number of Americans turning to arts and crafts during this time, we are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the convenience of picking up an online order from our website, dropping off a pre-labeled return package or shipping off those DIY projects, all while still being able to get their shopping safely done.”
