Yodel to deliver one million meals to NHS staff

Yodel have joined forces with other well-known businesses, including Tesco and Absolute Taste, to form SalutetheNHS.org an initiative led by Ron Dennis CBE which aims to feed thousands of critical NHS workers over the next few months.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep the country moving during this unprecedented time and our colleagues across the business feel honoured to be able to support such a worthy cause. We are tremendously grateful for everything that the NHS is doing, and it is a privilege to be able to support workers. Producing and distributing meals to the NHS frontline will require careful planning and a collaborative effort from all the partners involved, and we’re confident we have the right team in place to do it.”
– Mike Hancox, Chief Executive at Yodel

The high quality meals being provided to NHS staff are made from ingredients supplied by Tesco, prepared by Absolute Taste and delivered by Yodel. They will be free of charge to ICU teams, anaesthetic teams and A&E staff, who are unable to leave their clinical areas or change out of their protective clothing during their 12 hour shifts, which is the protocol being adopted by all COVID-19 designated hospitals.

Better together

Despite the pandemic forcing us to stay at home and limit social contact we have seen our world come together in gratifying ways within a short space of time. Leading food, logistics, packaging and other specialists companies are all coming together to help vital key workers get what they need by mobilising largescale, professional operations quickly and effectively.

Hopefully it won’t be long before we all emerge from this unsettling period of our lives with more adaptable businesses, better coping mechanisms, harmonious partnerships, trustworthy support networks and the vision of a bright future for the online brands and companies who helped consumers get through a time where they were stuck indoors filled with doubt and uncertainty.
