InPost parcel lockers introduced to Lidl stores

InPost have recently announced the roll-out of their parcel lockers to 24 Lidl stores, giving more delivery and collection services to consumers to maximise their shopping trips and minimize the spread of COVID-19.

The lockers can be used to send parcels, meaning customers can collect and return items whilst doing their weekly shops to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and benefit the environment by running multiple errands during one trip.

“With current lockdown guidance limiting how and when people can leave the house, it is vital that they are able to maximise each trip and not make unnecessary additional journeys. Installing delivery lockers at one of the UK’s best-loved supermarkets allows them to do this and also provides a useful, contact-free outbound resource at a time when many Post Offices are closed.”
– Jason Tavaria, CEO of InPost

Initial customer feedback on the lockers at Lidl stores have been positive, 74% of respondents who left feedback rated the experience as ‘very good’ with 44% doing shopping whilst collecting a parcel, confirming the trip-chaining trend. 85% of respondents said using the InPost locker was the reason for their visit to Lidl, meaning more consumers are realizing the convenience of the parcel lockers and wishing to use them.

“The positive feedback we’ve already had from customers shows they’re open to change, with trip-chaining becoming more common and demonstrating the demand for greater integration between how people work, shop and play.”
– Jason Tavaria, CEO of InPost

InPost is confident it can help create more environmentally sustainable and convenient deliveries by reducing last mile, single-drop courier deliveries and encouraging consumers to collect and drop off at lockers through more accessible locations. InPost UK has already partnered with carriers such as Hermes, DHL Express and DX and retailers such as Boohoo, JD Group and Holland and Barrett to push this convenient parcel service into the nation.
