Morrisons on Amazon launched in Leeds before national roll out

No primary category set

If you live in Leeds and miss Amazon Pantry, the wait is over as the Morrisons on Amazon store has launched today. It’s bigger and better than Amazon Pantry as the range is massively increased – it’s basically supermarket shopping on Amazon.

For the first time, customers are now able to do their full Morrisons food shop on Amazon UK and with free same-day delivery on orders over £40 as part of their Prime membership. Morrisons on Amazon launches today in Leeds, before being expanded to millions of Prime members across the country in the coming weeks.

This is a shot across the bows for other supermarkets who have been stepping up grocery delivery during the pandemic. Whilst you might shop at another supermarket there aren’t any delivery charges for Prime customers on Amazon for orders over £40 and certainly supermarkets aren’t offering same day delivery which you can get from Morrisons on Amazon.

Everyday essentials and Market Street selection

Today’s announcement will make Morrisons even more accessible to customers that use Amazon.co.uk and the Amazon app. Prime members can find the Morrisons products that they know and love, from everyday essentials to favourites such as Morrisons The Best range and Morrisons Market Street selection, including bread freshly baked by Morrisons bakers and hand finished cream cakes from its cake shops. The range includes handmade products from Morrisons’ butchers and fishmongers, and a selection of fruit and vegetables by quantity, providing even more choice.

Fast delivery options

Same-day delivery – with two-hour scheduled time slots – is free with Prime membership on orders over £40, and £3.99 for orders under £40. Orders are hand-picked from local stores by dedicated Morrisons staff and delivered to customers by Amazon Flex Delivery Partners.

Competitive prices

There will be thousands of items at the same price as Morrisons stores and a range of multi-buy promotions delivering great value for money.

“The launch of Morrisons on Amazon means increased visibility for Morrisons’ incredible service and selection, as well as an even greater choice for our customers. We’re always looking at ways to make Prime even better and this expansion of our relationship with Morrisons means that millions of Prime members can soon order their weekly groceries from their local Morrisons shop, with same-day delivery, at no extra cost.”
– Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon

“Morrisons on Amazon will build on our partnership with Amazon, making our good quality, great value food even more accessible through Amazon.co.uk and the Amazon app. It will give more and more customers the option of receiving Morrisons groceries straight to their doorstep, including freshly prepared products from our brilliant Market Street colleagues.”
– David Potts, Chief Executive, Morrisons

  1. Yeah the lot I drive for have been pumping up the delivery prices. You can pretty much get a £1 delivery if you book the unsociable 22.00 to 23.00 , but if you want a AM slot for example it is top dollar.

Do Amazon flex drivers have fridges however???. What about the current Morrisons fleet which look Brand spanking new compared to the buckets we get which seem to get older every week.

Amazon will dominate this market within a couple of years also, they have the right people in place, they understand online and will just start the race to the bottom tactics.

  2. Can Morrisons cope. Their lockdown click and drop was a joke. I know someone who was stuck outside from 7.30pm till midnight.

  3. Major supermarket launching on Amazon… This the beginning of an end for them (supermarkets) in the long term. If people get the habit of buying Morrisons from Amz then Morrisons can close down their own website and prepare to pay $$$ in fees.
