Amazon Order Auto Cancellation timeline update

No primary category set

Amazon automatically cancels orders if they have not been shipped and confirmed within 30 days of the estimated ship date. That’s a long time for a buyer to wait for an order that should already have shipped, so there is an update to the Amazon Order Auto Cancellation timeline from the end of the month.

New Amazon Order Auto Cancellation timeline

To protect and improve the customer experience, starting from the 30th of September, Amazon will automatically cancel any order which is not shipped and confirmed within 7 business days after the “ship by” date detailed in the “Sold, ship now” notification email.

If you need extended lead times, you can set your ship by date by modifying your Handle Time, however you should be aware this date is part of the delivery time calculation displayed on the offer listing and checkout page and so too long a Handle Time might discourage sales.

Amazon Order Auto Cancellation timeline update impact on Cancellation Rate

Orders cancelled automatically 7 business days after the ‘ship by’ date will be counted as defects to your Cancellation Rate, but will directly replace what would have previously counted as a defect to your Late Ship Rate.

You can monitor both metrics in your Account Health dashboard. Amazon’s policy requires sellers maintain a ancellation Rate under 2.5% in order to prevent potential account deactivation.

Cancelling an order at the buyer’s request will not count as a defect towards your cancellation rate.
