Every week 11 million items of clothing end up in landfill. Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and its people – it’s unsustainable. Now there’s something you can do to help – Join #SecondHandSeptember with Oxfam and pledge to say no to new clothes for 30 days for the whole of this month. Shop second hand and where better to start than on eBay!
Not only will you be giving clothes a longer life by keeping them from landfill, by shopping with Oxfam you’ll also be reinvesting your money into helping the poorest people on the planet earn a fair living and beat poverty.
To support #SecondHandSeptember, the eBay x Stylist for Oxfam boutique has just launched today and there’s some stunning fashion on offer. There are style collections for Denim, 70’s, Classic Vintage, Evening Party (Metallic meets Madonna with this collection, pictured above) and Pretty romantic. All the garments and accessories are being sold with 100% of the proceeds going to support the work of Oxfam.
If that’s not enough vintage fashion for you, then visit the #SecondHandSeptember shop on eBay where you’ll find even more products offered from sellers donating at least 10% of the sale price being donated to Oxfam. There are also some links to more general women’s and men’s used clothing on eBay so if you’re selling in the apparel categories you should hopefully be seeing an uplift in sales this month.
Through eBay for Charity buyers can also support Oxfam through the ‘Give at Checkout’ feature for the month of September. eBay consumers are also being encouraging to consider donating a percentage of their proceeds to the charity when they sell (eBay for Charity then waives the equivalent percentage of the final value fees).
