Amazon Christmas TV Advert – The Show must go on!

No primary category set

A new Amazon Christmas TV ad campaign has been launched which follows a young, talented ballet dancer as she prepares for the role of a lifetime. This being 2020, things don’t go to plan, but with the support of friends and family, and her own tenacity and optimism, she delivers a spectacular performance for her awestruck neighbours.

“Our TV ad is inspired by, and pays tribute to, the unbeatable human spirit and the power of community that we have witnessed so often this year.”
– Simon Morris, VP Global Creative, Amazon

Today, a 60 second version of the advert is being shown and The full 120 second advert will air on 3rd November, during the first ad break of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. You can watch the full version of the advert below.

The TV advert, created by Lucky Generals for Amazon, features French ballet dancer, Taïs Vinolo, in the starring role. We follow her powerful story as her dreams of dancing a lead role are jeopardised due to the COVID-19 crisis. As her ballet school closes, she continues to train regardless, in and around her neighbourhood. However, later in the year, her hopes are dashed, as the end of year performance is cancelled. Devastated, she loses hope. However, her sister and the community around her secretly pull together to give her a stage and an audience after all, in an emotional finale.

“When I was growing up in the French countryside, there were no young black girls studying ballet with hair like mine, or even on TV, meaning I had no one to identify myself with. Being on this shoot helped so much with this, enabling me to own who I really am, who I want to be and what I represent. I am so proud to have been part of this project since the message of it means a lot to me and even more so in this very difficult time that the world is going through.”
– Taïs Vinolo, ballerina, Amazon Christmas 2020 advert

To coincide with the launch of the ad, customers can now browse and purchase gifts from The Amazon Christmas Shop.

  1. “Unbeatable human spirit”…… the absolute cheek!! These tax dodgers should be wiped off the face of the Earth. I’m no fan at all of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez but she was dead right about Amazon.

  2. I am disappointed the end of the advert isn’t her retraining to become and amazon delivery driver, after the government website said it was perfect for her.

  3. Poor girls got a good chance of spending christmas in the nick or the loony bin dancing In the snow on a roof dressed in a tu tu

  4. Ah, where’s Bezos as Scrooge?

They forgot the cheap Chinese-seller plastic junk which, if electronic, blows up at the first available opportunity.

And where’s that scene with the frustrated customer searching with results cluttered with sponsored (Chinese) ads?

I hope eBay do one with ‘behind the scenes at the money back guarantee’!

I like(d) Amazon as a buyer (and they never did me any harm as a seller years ago), but the user experience is ruined by their greed and they aren’t particularly competitive on price when actually stocking most products themselves anymore (unless it’s a deal).

  5. The commercial is a well written, directed and produced real life scenario of what actually has happened to people during the pandemic. Seeing Tais Vinolo’s rehearse as in verse to her story of over coming obstacles and fulfilling her commitment to the ballet performance was successfully done. Bravo.
