The UK is set to leave the European Union’s single market and customs union on 1st of January 2021, and a customs border will be established between the UK and the European Union with an inevitable Brexit Amazon Partnered Carrier programme impact. In short, ship before the 18th of December as that’s the last date Amazon will accept shipment requests before the 1st of January 2021!
Starting on this date, there will be an updated workflow for shipments between the UK and the European Union using the Amazon Partnered Carrier programme. Sellers will be required to be customs compliant when shipping goods across the UK-EU border – more details on the Brexit Amazon Partnered Carrier programme impact are available at Prepare your Amazon business for Brexit.
Once you have booked your shipments, new steps will be required to clear customs. This could impact shipments before the 1st of January 2021 if they’ve not crossed the border before this date. Amazon’s Cross-border shipment workflow frequently asked questions should assist you with any queries.
18th Dec deadline for cross border transshipments
The UK government has advised that deliveries between the UK and mainland Europe could be delayed due to a potential border disruption. Amazon recommend shipping UK import and export shipments before this coming Friday, the 18th of December 2020, to ensure they cross the UK border before customs clearance is required. Starting on this date, Amazon will stop cross-border transshipment.
Pre-Brexit Amazon Partnered Carrier programme promotion
To help you manage these upcoming changes, Amazon recently launched a pre-customs border shipping promotion. This promotion, which runs until the 18th of December 2020, reduces the cost of shipping for deliveries between the UK and the European Union by approximately 30% to 64% on average for sellers using the Partnered Carrier Programme.
The promotion applies to Amazon partnered carrier shipments that are:
- Sent from an address in the UK to a fulfilment centre in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland or the Czech Republic
- Sent from an address in Germany, France, Italy or Spain to a fulfilment centre in the UK
