There’s a cracking new promotion running from today on eBay, so if you’re not already selling on the marketplace sign up to take advantage of 5% eBay Final Value Fees for new business sellers.
This promotion is running from today, the 10th of May until the 31st of August, at which time your new eBay account will revert from 5% eBay Final Value Fees to the standard rates dependent on the category you’re selling in. Only sellers who register on eBay UK from the 10th May of 2021 with a registered address in the United Kingdom and have their accounts activated for managed payments are eligible to participate.
Whilst eBay haven’t said the reason for this promotion, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for the many offline businesses who have been hit hard by the pandemic. Today, the government announced the next easing of lock down restrictions will go ahead from next Monday, the 17th of May, but many retailers are still hard hit with reduced high street foot fall.
A two-year comparison (in order to exclude the turbulence that shops experienced in the lockdowns of 2020) found that total footfall started to improve as shops reopened in April, compared to the previous month of March (+28.7%) but numbers were still 40% down when compared to April 2019.
If you run a retail business, or have family or friends that do, encourage them to take a look at this offer from eBay to get started selling online to support their offline business. We are now entering the period when government support is starting to tail off and we will see the end of flexible furlough payments for staff and the end to Covid related grants and finance loans and it is essential that those businesses still reliant on them find ways to make their business finances start to work again and balance the books. For some this could be selling on eBay.
There are some Ts and Cs that apply to the 5% eBay Final Value Fees promotion for new business sellers, you can check them out on the promo page on eBay.
