OnBuy have traditionally been unique amongst marketplaces in that their Black Friday deals haven’t asked you, the merchant, to dig into your pockets and pay to play in the form of discounts or advertising. Even those marketplaces that subsidise deals generally also expect the merchant to match the marketplace discount so we’re in favour of the OnBuy approach which is set to continue for the OnBuy Black Friday 2021 sales event.

Now, for the OnBuy Black Friday 2021 event, the marketplace are advising merchants that they’ll be promoting deals all month starting from the 1st of November. This means you need to ensure that your products are listed on OnBuy by the end of October at the latest to make sure you have a chance of being including in the OnBuy Black Friday deals. We’d still recommend that you keep your prices keen as then any discounts OnBuy fund will make your products even more competitive and attractive to buyers.

If you use any of the top multi-channel management platforms you’ll find an OnBuy integration ready to go which should make listing relatively trouble free and easy.

OnBuy have grown massively over the past two years, in summer of 2019 they had less than 700k monthly visits but by summer 2021 this had exploded to well over 6 million per month. OnBuy has also seen explosive Black Friday growth and in 2020 they saw double the number of sales and 5 times the number of visitors as in previous years.

OnBuy haven’t revealed yet what their plans are for Q4 this year, but on past experience they’re going to be pulling out all the stops to attract sales for their merchants. OnBuy continue to surprise and delight merchants and as the UK’s fourth biggest marketplace you should be maximising on the opportunity and getting your full product sets listed and launched on the marketplace to make the most of the opportunity.

In 2019, OnBuy recorded sales of over £1 million on Black Friday alone which was five times their sales volume in 2018. In 2020, their sales on Black Friday were £2.5 million. We’ll be watching with interest to see what dizzying heights their sales hit in 2021, but remember that OnBuy don’t sell on their own marketplace – every sale is from a merchant and all you have to do to grab your share of the OnBuy Black Friday 2021 sales is to get your products listed.
