New data releasedby eBay UK reveals the impact of hyped sneaker drops on the wider resale market. Drops of the Air Jordan 1 Mid Valentine’s Day, amongst others, are set to catalyse the demand for sneakers more widely.

Searches for ‘sneakers’ (We are British so simply call them trainers!) are up 927% so far in February compared to last year, with Valentine’s Day, NBA icon Michael Jordan’s birthday (17 Feb) and NBA All-Star weekend (20 Feb) triggering sneakerheads to grab a new pair for themselves or a loved one.

When big sneakers dropped in 2021, searches on eBay boomed in the next four days. From 427% more searches following the release of Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Bred, to a huge 962% more searches when Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 MX Rock landed and as many as 1847% more for Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey – the trend is confirmed.**

As Air Jordan 1 Mid Valentine’s Day, New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 993 and Air Jordan 5 Racer Blue are amongst the biggest sneaker drops set to land this month, eBay predicts that now is the prime time for sneakerheads to sell their sneakers and fund their new drops.

List sneakers on eBay with 2.5% seller fees

To help sneakerheads get trading on their latest kicks, eBay is lowering seller fees to just 2.5% on all sneakers, regardless of their selling price  for a limited time only – Monday 14th until 21st February 2022.

Sneakerheads come to eBay to buy and sell exclusive sneaker drops that are hard to get your hands on. We see it every time – when a sneaker legend like Michael Jordan is front of mind, and it’s the run up to NBA All Star weekend, we see mass market movement. With so much heat setting to land in February, now is the time to list your sneakers with so many buyers looking on site and then you can set your sights on your next dunks.
