We are absolutely thrilled to announce Brad Aspess MBE has been honoured by Her Majesty in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee birthday list. Brad has come a long way since he started out, like many, as an eBay seller and this unexpected honour marks the pinnacle of an amazing career in ecommerce and international trade.

The recognition comes following an incredible period for Rarewaves. Having won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2018, the business has continued to grow with 2021 seeing record sales, having delivered products to customers in 209 different countries and territories around the world.

This is an amazing honour for Brad – when Rarewaves won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise that was for the business but the MBE is personal recognition not only for the international trade that he’s built up at the company but also for the advice and mentoring he’s freely given to so many over the years.

Having started out as an eBay seller, Brad has not only grown Rarewaves to become a multichannel retailer, selling to customers in 174 countries, he has also established a Rarewaves office in Chicago to cater for the US market. It truly demonstrates the opportunity eBay offer so many sellers with literally no limit to the direction an established eBay business can expand.

Congratulations to Brad! This is a great example of how you can start out and build a global business on eBay, and we’re thrilled for the whole team at Rarewaves, and are proud for the small part that eBay played, and best of luck for an exciting future.

– Murray Lambell, General Manager, eBay UK

If you’d like to meet Brad in person, he’ll be speaking at ChannelX World in London on the 13th of October and sharing his knowledge and experience of international trade.

A huge congratulation to Brad from all at ChannelX!

I am truly humbled and honoured by the award of an MBE, but of course it reflects on all the staff at Rarewaves who have grown this business into a leading UK exporter of millions of products worldwide. Without them it would not have been possible.

– Brad Aspess MBE, founder and Chairman, Rarewaves

All at Rarewaves are incredibly proud of Brad and this accolade. He is a truly inspirational leader and role model, and has nurtured an amazing entrepreneurial spirit at Rarewaves. Anyone that knows Brad will know how much he deserves this award.

– Rob Evans, Managing Director, Rarewaves

  1. Well done Brad — excellent achievement in building up Rarewaves.

  2. rarewaves-outlet sits at an abysmal 98.5% feedback, so poor it does not even qualify for Top Rated Seller status. That Murray Dumbell thinks this is a great achievement is disturbing…if I ran my business as poorly as that, I’d be booted off the site.

I’ve often thought about how much more money I could make if I just didn’t give a proverbial, just use stock photos and hire some min wage staff to scan barcodes all day, poor to non-existent grading of 2nd hand goods and never answer emails from customers. But no…I just couldn’t do it. I’m a collector at heart and I hate the waters being muddied by people who don’t know/care about what they are doing.
