Isabel Hospice is a local charity in Hertfordshire, which has been providing free palliative care to patients for over 40 years and have been awarded the eBay for Business Social Impact Award for 2023.

Since its inception in 1982, Isabel Hospice has made a real difference to so many people’s lives, providing support and comfort to patients and their families, at a time when it’s needed the most.
Providing this support isn’t cheap, however. Isabel Hospice relies on the generosity of the public for donations that can be resold to raise invaluable funds. Its eBay arm of the business works in tandem with its brick and mortar offerings to give these donations a new, loving home. They are still recovering from the aftermath of their 16 retail outlets being closed and losing donations and volunteers during the pandemic, but thriving on eBay!
Behind the scenes, there’s a large, dedicated team of full-time staff and part-time volunteers that carry out this selfless work. Each and every member of this team has a vital role to play – and the eBay team continues to go from strength, inspecting, listing, picking and packing thousands upon thousands of items every year.
It’s this selfless work and commitment to growing its eBay business that led to Isabel Hospice winning the Social Impact Award at the 2023 eBay Business Awards. But beyond eBay, the hospice is always looking for new and innovative ways to raise funds, as seen with the launch of its ‘Tonnes of Care’ campaign that’s on a mission to save 25,000 tonnes from landfill by 2027.
