Royal Mail are contacting all business customers with a collection to check which days they will be operating over the Christmas break. However this year they are handling your Christmas collections a little differently.
In the past, Royal Mail would tell you Christmas is coming and ask you to tell them which days you’d like a collection – they pretty much assumed that most businesses would shut between Christmas and New Year.
This year, rather than asking when you want Christmas collections, they’re asking which days you don’t want to have a collection attempted.
No collections will be made on Wednesday, 25th December, Thursday, 26th December and Wednesday, 1st January 2025. Additionally, no collections will be made in Scotland on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.
However, Royal Mail will be collecting as usual throughout the rest of December, so you need to let them know which days you don’t need a collection between Friday, 20th December 2024 and Saturday, 4th January 2025. (On Saturday, 21st December and Saturday, 28th December, Royal Mail will only collect from customers with a regular Saturday collection).
It’s important that you complete the online Royal Mail Christmas Collections Form by the 2nd of December. It’s highly likely that businesses will want to get their final pre-Christmas orders out of the door on the 23rd of December, but if you’re not working Christmas Eve, and if you’re shutting any days between Christmas and New Year, let Royal Mail know in advance.
And, if by any chance you plans change and you need to update your Christmas collections, simply revisit the form and submit it again!

They don’t seem to have mentioned their “Make sure you have your collection ready EARLY” on Christmas eve and New Year’s eve, so I wonder if they will be collecting at the designated collection times?
