The eBay affiliates pages have errors which will hang a PC when opened in FireFox and in Internet Explorer cause three stack overflow errors at lines 1012, 0 and 32.
This is all the affliate pages starting from https://pages.ebay.co.uk/affiliates/index.html which we’d strongly recommend you don’t enter into your browser until the issue is known to be fixed.
I’m especially annoyed as the glitch has caused four reboots and total reinstallation of some programs to recover from the errors.
Having got my PC working again next step is to call ebay and inform them of the error… We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
UPDATE…. The errors are also occuring on the eBay community forums and help pages. We’d strongly recomend you use Internet Explorer for browsing the eBay site until the errors are fixed as it appears most resilient to recovering from the errors.

What is the version of FireFox you are using?
I am using version 2.0.0.12 and it causes it to hang. No need to reboot. Click on end process in task manager and it shuts it down.
I have to give a wry smile when I check the lovely pristine UK Systems Announcement Board (https://forums.ebay.co.uk/forum.jspa?forumID=1200000000) which promises to let me “Find out the latest on technical issues across the site”.
I wonder when eBay will start the first thread ❓
Am using 2.0.0.12 as well, but my PC simply ran out of memory – Firefox 2 has never been great at managing memory anyway and then when everything started to fall to pieces my PC just couldn’t take any more 🙁
“I have to give a wry smile when I check the lovely pristine UK Systems Announcement Board…”
Thanks for providing a link to one of the pages which causes the crash! ❗
Oh heck sorry 😥
I’ve taken the live linkage out 😯
My old version of IE (6.0.2900.2180) 😳 also gives stack overflow errors as well.
Line:0
Line:32
but it does not crash, clicking through the errors brings up the pages.
No problem. It would be helpful if eBay posted a warning about this… but where would they put it? 🙄
Also, using FireFox on most ebay pages is fine. I can browse items and do stuff in My eBay without problems.
James on the PSB: “Am sorry to say that this is something we’re aware of and there is a team working on a fix for this as we speak.”
Sorry, what are “The eBay affiliates pages?”
(is not techie).
Louise – the affiliates program is where eBay pay you to send traffic to them. Typically you have a website, and put links to eBay on it. So long as those links have a code in them that tells eBay that *you* sent the traffic, and so long as people then buy or bid, or sign up and use a new account, you get paid.
I’d put you a link in so you could see, but it’s probably not a good idea right now 😆
Ahh, thanks Sue 😆
O so that’s whats going on, every time I tried to log into powerseller section today firefox closed and the pc stalled 😆
Reinstalled firefox and tried again and it crashed again 😆
Now I know I’ll go out for some tea and forget about it.
