eBay.com display new seller & product specific feedback link on listings

No primary category set

eBay appear to be testing (or have implemented) a new feedback display on fixed price items in the US. Alongside the quantity remaining, on some listings you’ll also see a new “See feedback” link which pops up feedback for this item only.

From the listings we’ve seen it would appear that the pop-up is currently only displaying feedback for the seller who’s listing you’re looking at and for the product on sale on that listing. Feedback also only appears to display if it was left in 2017 – we’ve not seen an instance where feedback shows from previous years.

If you have great feedback for your products then this is a feature that you might like. However it’s also a double edged sword. One one listing that we looked at the seller had a single negative feedback suggesting that their service left a lot to be desired.

It’s hard to argue with the brutal fairness of displaying feedback in this manner, after all feedback is an honest reflection of buyer’s opinion on your product and service. If you get a single negative feedback for a product and no positive feedback from happy customers it may make buyers think twice before making a purchase. In this instance the screenshot is from a listing in the current eBay.com Deals and it doesn’t appear to have impacted sales as over 100 items have been sold from that listing in the past two days.

If you’ve got a healthy stream of positive feedbacks then seeing these can only reinforce a buying decision and should assist with the sale so the upside should outweigh the disadvantages of having the odd negative feedback included in the display.

Best advice if you’ve got a single negative feedback for a product and you see sales dropping off could be to cancel the listing and launch a new listing without any prior selling history. However it’s worth testing this before doing wholesale relists as soon as you get a single negative feedback – as noted it doesn’t seem to stop sales and we don’t know if it’s tied to the GTIN and eBay could display the feedback on your new listing anyway!
