Yesterday we blogged that The Department for Culture, Media and Sport praised moves to introduce clearer resale information and exchange facilities for tickets. Today the Brit Awards retrospectively decide that only the person named on the credit card used to pay can collect Brits tickets.
Well too little, too late! Why oh why are concert organisers so naive that they don’t realise tickets may be resold? What gives them the right to introduce such a draconian measure? What about the genuine fans who borrowed their mum or dads credit card and will now have to convince them to collect the tickets?
If the organisers of the Brit Awards want to restrict the re-sale of tickets they should take a leaf out of Glastonbury’s book. Glastonbury introduced pre-registration with photo’s printed on tickets. The ticket industry has been done a major disservice by the Brit Awards, whilst the government welcomes better resale and exchange information on tickets they impose a set of regulations *after* they’ve sold the tickets.
The Brit Awards have successfully demonstrated just how inept they are and weakened the argument for the Government meddling with resale of tickets. Changing the terms after the sale makes them just as bad as the touts!
