The Post Office has announced 86 closures across the east midlands, 40 in Derbyshire, 29 in Nottinghamshire and 6 in Lincolnshire. The closures are due to begin in January; Royal Mail’s website has a full list of affected sites. Eleven branches will be replaced with “outreach services”: a mobile Post Office or a PO situated within another shop.
Royal Mail said that most people would still be within a mile of a Post Office. Mark Partington, network development manager for the East Midlands, said: “These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly.”
