eBay.com announced a new feature yesterday: advanced FAQs improves on eBay’s integrated FAQs, allowing sellers to create a “knowledgebase” which their potential buyers can use to find answers to the most commonly asked questions. eBay say that the service is most likely to be of value to high volume sellers, though any seller can sign up.
The service is on a paid-for basis, supplied by one of two external providers: Hosted Support or Parature. Hosted Support are charging $19.95 per month for the service; Parature, rather mistakenly, want me to register before I can get any further details of their product.
This is an interesting development for eBay, who have until now made strenuous efforts to keep communication between buyer and seller on-site and under their control. Allowing communication to move to a more flexible venue has to be good news for busy sellers, though it’s a shame eBay haven’t allowed us to link to our own website FAQs.
At the moment, advanced FAQs are available on .com only.
