Every New Year is a time to take stock, plan and reflect in whatever you do. And for eBay sellers, it looks like 2008 will be a year of change and significant developments in the marketplace. Executives have already indicated that sellers should expect significant amendments to the fee structure, changes to the buying experience and greater use of DSRs in determining search and browse results. And these changes are probably the tip of the iceberg: the next twelve months will require every eBay seller who’s serious about increasing their business and growing profitability to be ready, nimble and creative.
But it shouldn’t just be a case of reacting to these changes and making the best of it: serious eBay sellers will need to take advantage of events and use them to gain a competitive edge over less-flexible sellers. And to reap the rewards you’ll need to ensure that your eBay selling is in tip-top shape.
To help you enjoy a successful year on eBay I’ve put together ‘eBay Tips 2008’: a month-long series of advice, tips and strategies. Every day in January, I’ll be blogging new material, ranging from basic housekeeping, efficiency ideas, off-eBay suggestions and marketing experience. There’ll be something for everyone but just one aim: helping you be a better, more profitable, more efficient seller.
So, tomorrow, when your hangover has abated, see in the first working day of 2008 with the first instalment of ‘eBay Tips 2008’.
Tomorrow: Review your Titles

Hi Dan
Challenges next year on eBay, hopefully not as radical as this year. I am hoping 2007 was the buyers year, and 2008 the sellers year. Only time will tell.
Looking forward to your daily bloglet
Happy New Year to all
Suz xx

gotta say no one ever knows everything and different methods and opinions must always be considered,
though their is no real substitute for actually doing it
thats the best way by far to learn ebay
I can predict one eBay change with a great degree of certainty, it’ll be getting a lot less money out of me. 😀
Happy new year…… indeed.
hey dan, cant wait to get all the tips for the year ahead. bah hunbug to all the sellers who ”hate” eBay. if you have a good business mind there is plenty of money to be had! i believe the sellers that dont do well on eBay are the rogue ones!!! all the best for 2008 eBayers
Happy New Year All. :O) Thanks for your comments.
suz: I’d say that compared to 2007, 2008 will be a year of greater change. Let’s have this discussion in exactly a years’ time to see for sure. ;O)
Norf: looking forward to the debate. I agree with you!
Richard: I plan to look at off-eBay selling late in the month. ;o)
Dan
I am watching this thread with great interest, I live and work in a little bubble, in comparison to you, I know I will learn something to my advantage,
of that I am certain
I do not believe any of us sellers are going to be able to prepare for what is to come on eBay. eBay has decided that it does not want to be eBay anymore, they want to be Amazon. They do not care that it will seriously hurt the people that built eBay and made so many eBay execs and stock holders very rich. As much as it pains me to say it the Roman empire fell and so will eBay if they do not realize they need to be loyal to their sellers.
