Australian sells whole life on eBay

Fancy a new life in Australia? You can now buy one on eBay! An Australian man is to put his entire life – house and contents, car and even job – up for auction. Ian Usher, who emigrated from the UK six years ago, is selling up following a split from his wife. He said that selling everything in one go would be much less emotionally draining than getting rid of his possessions one by one. His boss has agreed to take the auction winner on a two-week trial with a view to a permanent job.

My aim is to walk away at the end of the eBay auction with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, go to the airport and just jump on the first available plane to anywhere.

He has set up a website detailing exactly what the winning bidder will receive (though at time of writing, that seems to be in melt-down). Ian hopes to raise around AU$400,000 from the sale, which will start on 22nd June at just AU$1.00.

  1. Betcha he comes back to the UK! Seems like a brilliant way to market your house and get rid of all you possessions in one go, after all it normally takes three months plus to flog a house anyway 😀

  2. New life in Australia? Just steal a loaf of bread and get sent there courtesy of Her Majesty’s Government… or have we stopped doing that?

  3. If someone had that kind of cash, why would they need to spend it on a second hand life?
