A Trowbridge man is to sell his Dr Who collection on eBay, calling it the “greatest lie that Satan ever told”, reports the Wiltshire Times. The 47 year old has been building and collecting Dr Who memorabilia since he was young; he currently has a full-size TARDIS, two Cybermen, a Dalek and a model of K9. He told reporters that during a period of mental illness and alcoholism, “the Dr Who obsession was the only thing that kept me going”.

But having found religion, he is putting the collection up for sale in local trade papers and on eBay. He said, “God delivered me from the evil that is Dr Who, materialism and alcoholism.”

It’s currently not clear whether Mr White will be keeping the profits from the sale, or donating them to a worthy cause.

  1. Lets hope he doesnt watch Torchwood, might send him into relapse !
On a semi serious note I was watching Torchwood last night with my 13 yr old daughter and son,11, I know its past the watershed but what does the sight of two naked men kissing add to the plot?

  2. You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

  3. Well I’ve been accused of selling evil demon beads by a US customer, I’ve yet to be ‘delivered’ from the evil of my beads. Therapy may be the answer (for him I mean, I’ve had mine 😈 )

  4. I do find it interesting that he does identify a form of escapism here. Or maybe not escapism, maybe it was a way for him to cope emotionally with life, or the best thing he had found.

    Maybe that is escapism then…

Idolatry, oh yes, I agree North, but idolatry in ignorance maybe?

    Interesting 🙂

  5. All this poor man has done is swap one fictional book for another.

I can’t help but feel the geeks at outpostgallifrey would take better care of him than those in the local diocise.

  6. “All this poor man has done is swap one fictional book for another.”

    Have you read it then?

Have you verified its historical veracity?

I would be happy to receive any information that would indicate your position on the bible?

After all, if it is make believe, you must have evidence for that assumption.

Please remember that the Bible is a very spiritual book that means a lot to a lot of people.

Those types of comments are quite offensive.

Unless it is a statement of fact of course?
