More snow, more late deliveries…

No primary category set

Another sprinkling of snow overnight is causing havoc on the roads again. The skip lorry that visits our industrial estate got stuck this morning and another had to come tow it out and the snow is also affecting deliveries across the country.

Royal Mail have kept the Special Delivery guarantee suspension in place, although say that they are continuing to accept and deliver most items. Parcelforce are also coping pretty well but have suspended ad hoc collections for the next few days in the worst affected areas. There’s a full list of the affected Post Codes on the Parcelforce website.

It’s worth keeping customers updated with delivery expectations, and of course checking with whichever courier company you use for service updates in your area. Also if you’re not getting regular collections from Royal Mail or your courier it’s worth dropping you parcels off at their depot if possible. The big worry of course is the customers starting to chase their parcels and how it’ll affect DSRs.

So how is the snow affecting you? Do you work from home or are you able to get to your warehouse? Have your couriers been able to collect from you or do you have a backlog building up?
