According to the Detroit News a default judgment has been awarded against eBay when they failed to respond to a law suit. The case argues that eBay sellers should be allowed to use payment methods other than PayPal, such as cash or cheques.
eBay have requested that the summary judgment be set aside and a two week extension be granted saying that they had been in negotiations with the plaintiffs and there had been no indication that they would ask for a default judgment.
This looks like it’s now a tricky case to fight, it’s one thing defending “safe payments”, it’s another defending it when there’s already a default judgment against you.

A right boo, boo for ebays lawyers.
Anyone knows, once a judgement is obtained, then their (late) defence has to be watertight.
Any lawyer would automatically put in a counter argument/defence, before default, to stop precicely this sort of thing happening
SLAPPED HANDS TIME, me thinks!!……
“eBay have requested that the summary judgment be set aside and a two week extension be granted saying that they had been in negotiations with the plaintiffs and there had been no indication that they would ask for a default judgment.”
He he, that will teach them not to be so arrogant, and to get a better legal department.
“and there had been no indication that they would ask for a default judgment”
Ebay lawyers expected the plaintiffs to disclose their plans and strategy to win this case? What a lame excuse!
