If you use Skype and Facebook then you’ll love the latest update. Skype have added Facebook functionality allowing you to see your Facebook news feed in Skype, send updates to Skype and of course to make calls to your Facebook contacts directly from the Skype console.
Facebook is on a separate tab within Skype and being able to update your status or comment on friend notes in your Facebook news feed shows just how deep the integration between the two is.
The best bit has to be the Facebook phone book in Skype which allows you to call or send SMS text messages to your friends, and that’s even if you didn’t know their number – so long as they’ve got it displayed on Facebook then you can call them from Skype and of course if your friends are on Skype you can call them for free.
There are some other additions to Skype as well, such as user avatars displayed next to message, group video conference calling and some technical wizardry to improve call quality and easily reconnect calls that are interrupted due to Internet connection problems.
If you already use Skype then download Skype version 5 today. If you don’t use Skype now is the time to give it a trial, after all – it’s free.

I really, really don’t like this. Facebook “friend” is one thing; person I want to be able to Skype me is something completely other. I’m assuming the two don’t automatically tie themselves together?
