There is currently an issue with PayPal payments on eBay which is preventing buyers from paying for their purchases.
eBay are aware of the problem and say that it’s affecting 25% of buyers with the message “Sorry, we could not complete your request at this time. Please try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, report an issue to eBay support”. However some buyers are getting a message which consists simply of a full stop “.”
eBay say the issue is caused by eBay Next Generation Checkout, we’ll update you when the issue is fixed which I hope is soon – I have only had 30% of today’s sales paid and have had telephone calls with buyers one of who hasn’t had a single one of their sales paid for today.
Edited to add This glitch has now been fixed and payments should be completed as normal.

“eBay Next Generation Checkout”
hahahaha oh the irony.
Thanks for making me laugh out loud Chris.
I’ve been unable to pay all afternoon until a few minutes ago. I finally managed but I have to say the new checkout is NOT an improvement.
There’s an extra screen and you have to sign in to your eBay account after you’ve clicked confirm in PayPal, and confirm it again.
It’s a much longer process now.
Another eBay “improvement” launched without fanfare and seemingly designed to put a off a further tranche of eBay buyers.
The regular seller sign ins are bad enough when you do certain admin but to force buyers to sign in again when they are already signed in has to be questionable.
You have to sign in to Paypal to authorise the Paypal payment so what is the issue here?
Is it the “Sony” effect?
I would guess a fair chunk of the 100m Sony network users that have been hacked are also eBay/Paypal users.
And how many of these have “identical password syndrome”?
Why should those who are sensible with passwords suffer as a result of those who are not?
