£22.50 Raspberry Pi computer on eBay for £1.9k+

No primary category set

If you’re not a geek you’ve probably never heard of the Raspberry Pi computer, but it’s set to revolutionise school computing with a price point that means it’s as cheap as a text book.

At $38 (around £22.50) it’s a bare bones, cut down, not much bigger than a credit card computer. Sure it’s got very few of the fancy workings we’ve come to expect, not even a CMOS battery, but then what do you expect for £22.50?

If you want a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard, runs spreadsheets, word-processing and games and plays high-definition video don’t bid on these auctions. They’ll be on sale by February for £22.50. On the other hand if you want to support the work of the Raspberry Pi charity and get your hands on one of the first 10 beta boards then get bidding as the auctions for the now.

  1. Hi Chris,

The part that makes this interesting is not the price, its the inclusion of HDMI at this price level.

    Curious Q&A from the site:

Can I run power Raspberry Pi from batteries as well as from a wall socket?

Yes. The device should run well off 4xAA cells.

Certainly going to be curious to where we see these end up being used and what for.

    Kind regards,

    Matt
